Getting between rooms, age limits, and what a night actually costs.
Kallio, Sornainen and Kamppi are the three areas that matter, and all are on the metro or a short tram ride from the centre. The last metro runs around half past eleven on weeknights and later at weekends; night buses cover the gap. Most of the Kallio rooms are within a ten-minute walk of one another, so venue-hopping on foot is realistic.
Club nights are commonly 18 or 20 and up, and the limit is enforced with photo ID. A few band shows are all-ages with a separate bar area. Venues state the limit on the event page; if it is not stated, assume 18.

The cloakroom is not optional between November and March, and the queue for it at closing time is long. Bring a coat you do not mind checking, and cash or a card that works offline — some cloakrooms still run on a paper ticket system.
Helsinki enforces its noise rules seriously, which is why outdoor programming is short and heavily permitted. It also means indoor sound is usually excellent: rooms have invested in isolation rather than fighting complaints.
